Congregation Participation and General Assembly Membership

Section 1. All congregations who are consistent in adherence to the conditions as revealed in the New Testament as a guide for matters of faith and practice may access the facilities of HMCA and may participate in and promote any program of this institution under the supervision of the HMCA Board of Directors or its designate.

Section 2. Membership in the General Assembly will be contingent on the congregation being consistent in practice with New Testament requirements, demonstrating continued investment in the Restoration Movement (also known as the Stone-Campbell Movement), and accepting a financial obligation at a minimum of $600 per year to the support of HMCA, to be given some time during HMCA’s fiscal year.

Section 3. The purpose of the General Assembly is to provide HMCA with financial support, volunteers, and other resources and to nominate up to two (2) representatives from the member congregation to serve on the Board of Directors.

Section 4. Voting privileges within the General Assembly are accorded as one vote per Board member supplied by the Tier 1 Legacy and Tier 2 Partner member congregation, whose nomination for Board membership is determined by the leadership of that congregational body.

Section 5. Any member congregation shall be accorded the privilege of presenting items for discussion to the HMCA Board of Directors President for placement on the agenda for any regularly scheduled or specially called General Assembly Board meeting.

Section 6. Member congregations will be considered ethically responsible for all camp indebtedness and liabilities.

Section 7. General Assembly Member Congregations

The General Assembly is a collection of member church congregations that support the mission and ministry of HMCA with regular financial support, volunteers, and other resources.

  1. Tier 1 Legacy congregations provide HMCA with annual financial support by gifts of $1,200 or more.
  2. Tier 2 Partner congregations provide HMCA with annual financial support by gifts of $600 – $1,199.
  3. Tier 3 Supporting congregations provide HMCA with annual financial support by gifts of $599 or less.
  4. Voting privileges are afforded to the Board members supplied by Tier 1 Legacy and Tier 2 Partner congregations.
  5. Any member congregation of the General Assembly may be required to forfeit its rights in this Assembly by a two-thirds (2/3 or 67%) vote of the Board of Directors, after having been given a proper hearing. Every member congregation of the General Assembly must be notified of the proposed hearing to consider such a dismissal (“dismissal” is the loss of power to vote or conduct policy).
  6. Any member congregation that has been forced to forfeit its participation rights, based upon the above action, may have its rights to vote and conduct policy reinstated one calendar year from its termination date upon meeting the criteria outlined in Article 2, Sections 1 and 2, and a two-thirds (2/3 or 67%) vote of acceptance by the Board of Directors.
